SMS for Aviation, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, Mining, and the Health Care Industry

Traditional management system

This style of management tracks information then juggles and shuffles costs, equipment and people in order to meet schedules that maximize profit. Spreadsheets collect data; knowledge of pay-scales, purchases, upcoming contracts, upswings and downswings in the economy all come into play.

It helps us make accurate short term predictions to improve profit

Aviation maintenance tracking software makes it easier to find aircraft parts, times, and inspections. Other tracking software may be used to gather air-crew flight and duty times to see they are not exceeded.

Safety management system (SMS)

It is a scientific study of what has occurred or what is most probable to occur; then interpreting how the interaction of elements in the system, psychology of people (includes Human factors), our current knowledge and how variation of these elements can or has already contributed to a probable outcome.

It helps us make accurate long term predictions to reduce loss

Success in safety management is not measured on a spreadsheet or meeting a schedule, but in what we have done to enhance the system in order to increase the probability of positive safety outcomes. This style of management uses the scientific method to control loss; regulations require the aviation industry put safety management systems in place as an extra layer of protection to help save lives.

Traditional and safety management are equal partners in the success of any business; therefore events that affect either must be tracked and reacted upon in an equal manner

The majority of all damages and injuries are caused by faults within the system

We have made great strides in the last few decades with technology, which has been applied towards safety within every industry. The majority of errors that still occur have everything to do with how each individual reacts within the system.

If we are to make further progress in safety, the largest change will only be reached by a greater understanding of ourselves.

It is all about tracking ourselves and how we interact within the system; events and training

Three versions of training software that track

Less than 20% in use

Considered an older standard that was surpassed with the introduction of SCORM. Computer based training that tracks has its roots in aviation.

It was back in 1986 that aircraft manufacturers got together and pulled their resources together into building a standard.

Over 60% in use

Is an acronym for Shareable Content Object Reference Model. The US Government was also interested in verifying that an employee had viewed the training material.

It was developed by ADL (Advanced Distributed Learning committee). It is now shared on a wide global scale throughout universities, industry and government.

3. X-API
Less than 20% in use

Also known as "Experience API" or "Tin can". It is still being tested and developed to be the next step in the evolution of tracking software beyond SCORM.

Captivate and Moodle

Captivate Captivate 2019

It is the e-learning standard of the industry; over 80% of the Fortune 500 companies use this as their e-learning authoring tool. This is the software we use to track employee involvement within your existing training programs.

Moodle Learning Management System (LMS)

Your training site will run on the latest version of this LMS. This is where your SCORM based training programs are installed. Features of this LMS are unlimited forums, exams, question pools, grading and other features too numerous to mention.

Open source

Moodle in most cases matches or exceeds the capabilities of a commercially paid for Learning Management System (LMS). Moodle is community driven and globally supported by one of the largest open source teams in the world. It is currently used by government agencies, major university's, aviation training organizations, financial institutions, health care facilities and airlines throughout the world. Below are just some of the thousands of organizations who trust this LMS;
